THINGS TO DO IN SENCELLES Although Sencelles is perfect if you’re looking to get back in touch with Mother Nature, there are also a plethora of other activities and attractions on hand for the less “outdoorsy”. A hire car, or some other form of transportation is also beneficial if you’re interested in travelling from Sencelles holiday cottages to some of the more out of the way attractions. -Markets occur in practically every small town throughout Majorca and Sencelles is no different, with a small fresh fruit and vegetable market taking place every Wednesday morning. If you don’t mind going a little further from Sencelles however, the Inca markets, located approximately 10 kilometres north are the largest and most diverse markets on the island selling everything from food to clothing and handicrafts. -Wine Tasting is another must for any holiday maker on Majorca, and Binissalem, located a mere 9 kilometres northeast of most Sencelles holiday homes is a great place to sample the island’s wares. You may even be lucky enough to be there for the annual wine festival “La Festa des Vermar” in September, which can get a little messy owing to the lively grape battle and surplus wine on offer. -The Serra de Tramuntana mountain range is a nature lover’s paradise and runs southwest-northeast along the island. Part of this natural wonder is located only 20 kilometres north of Sencelles and is afantastic location for biking, hiking or sightseeing. If you’re interested in bird watching, you may even like to venture a little further into the mountain range and visit Cuber Lake, which is described by many as a “bird watchers paradise”. -Going to the beach is a must-do on Majorca, as the island boasts a superfluity of world class beaches. Although holiday cottages in Sencelles are not located directly on the coast, a scenic 40 kilometre drive through the mountains will have you relaxing on the beach at Port de Soller on the north coast; a short 30 kilometre drive will have you drinking cocktails on Alcudia beach on the west coast; and a 30 kilometre drive east will have you sunbathing at Cala Mayor beach near the island capital of Palma. -The Caves of Campanet are great if you’re interested in seeing something a little different, and are located roughly 25 kilometres northwest of Sencelles. The rock formations within the caves are absolutely breathtaking, so don’t forget to take your camera along on the 40 minute tour. You may also like to check out the “Ses Fonts Ufanes”, an unusual water spring located nearby, before heading back to your Sencelles holiday villa. THE WEATHER IN SENCELLES Sencelles is the perfect year round holiday destination, owing to its mild Mediterranean climate, which delivers long warm summers and short cool winters. Although the average temperature in winter is a comfortable 12 degrees, and rarely drops below 8 degrees, the majority of holiday makers prefer to visit the island between May and October. Winter on Majorca consequently provides you with the opportunity to really experience authentic Spanish culture, minus the tourist hoards; not to mention being able to get a great deal on your Sencelles holiday home. GETTING TO SENCELLES Getting from the international airport in Palma to your Sencelles holiday cottage is a relatively simple exercise, as the two are located only 30 kilometres apart. You may choose to cover this distance by shuttle bus, taxi or hire car, although regardless of which method you decide on, it should take no more than 30 minutes before you’re relaxing with a glass of local wine and enjoying the Spanish sunset
